Are you a budding web developer or designer with a good grasp of HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript? Do you have a keen interest in WordPress development and a knack for helping people? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team within a thriving established business in Newport.

We’re looking for a proactive and adaptable individual to fill a hybrid role that combines fundamental web development tasks with essential business and client support. This is a fantastic chance to grow your technical skills on real-world projects while also developing valuable communication and problem-solving abilities. You’ll report directly to our Web Project Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a Junior Web Developer / Web Support Specialist, your responsibilities will be diverse and engaging:

  • Web Development & Maintenance:
  • Implementing and modifying website content using HTML and CSS.
  • Adding basic interactivity with JavaScript.
  • Assisting with server-side logic and database interactions using PHP and MySQL. This will involve making minor code adjustments and helping manage data.
  • Working within the WordPress ecosystem, customising themes, and extending functionality with plugins.

Business Operations Support:

  • Contributing to various internal business tasks, such as content updates, data entry, and digital asset management, to ensure smooth team operations.

Client Support:

  • Providing friendly and effective first-line technical support to our clients for their website-related queries and issues.
  • Clearly communicating solutions and guiding clients through basic troubleshooting steps.
  • Documenting support interactions to help improve our service.

Qualifications and Relevant Experience

  • Foundational understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Basic proficiency in PHP and MySQL for server-side operations and database interaction.
  • Familiarity with WordPress development (admin dashboard, themes, plugins, basic customisations) is highly desirable.
  • An understanding of version control concepts (like Git) is a plus, but not essential for this entry-level role.
  • A good understanding of IT and system support (Will need to confirm full responsibilities).

Essential Skills

  • Foundational understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Basic proficiency in PHP and MySQL for server-side operations and database interaction.
  • Familiarity with WordPress development (admin dashboard, themes, plugins, basic customisations) is highly desirable.

Job Description

A2Z Computing Ltd are seeking to employ a Systems Administrator to join our ever increasing team and take part in the exciting expansion of the company!

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for providing support to clients in terms of both software and hardware, whether by face to face, over the telephone or via email.  To visit client sites and undertake regular contracted support or deal with urgent repairs or maintenance.  Also to diagnose and repair equipment which has brought into the A2Z main premises.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide 1st, 2nd Line Technical Support to existing and new clients, by face to face, telephone or via email.
  • Provide appropriate hardware and software training and advice following on from the  installation of equipment.
  • Resolving client issues which have occurred in relation to computer related devices including printers, projectors and interactive whiteboards.
  • Cabling and network installations.
  • Installing / reinstalling hardware and software on laptops and personal computers.
  • Managing installations of server and network equipment using recognised Project Management Guidelines.
  • Maintaining a log of all work undertaken on behalf of clients using our CRM System.
  • Any other tasks as required by the Director or Office Manager of A2Z Computing Ltd.

Essential Skills

  • Full clean driving licence, together with own transport which is insured for business purposes.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Based Operating Systems with emphasis on Windows 11, SBS, Active Directory , VMs, Most Main stream Windows Servers and iMac’s
  • Strong working knowledge of the setting up of PC hardware and configuration of hardware.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills.
  • Excellent Organisational Skills.
  • Keen interest in current technology developments.
  • working knowledge in IP stack and network setups

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of CRM Systems, VM Systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 10, 11 and Server 2012, 2016, 2022.
  • Knowledge of Server Hardware / Raid Technology.
  • Strong understanding of web-based technologies.
