21st August 2008 - A2Z Computing supplies equipment to new primary schools

This summer, subcontracted by construction company Willmott Dixon, A2Z Computing has been tasked to supply and install new equipment for two new primary schools being built in Monmouthshire. Llanfoist Primary school is closing and moving to a new location. Pembroke Primary School is staying on the same site but has a new building.

Both schools have been equipped with new servers, laptops, workstations, printers and interactive whiteboards. Some of the existing equipment has been transferred to the new schools.

The work is now nearing completion and is on target for the schools to open for the new term in September.

10th August 2008 - A2Z Computing Online Services rolls out new hosting server technology

As part of our commitment to stay at the forefront of technology, and provide the best possible service, our Online Services division has begun rolling out new server hardware and software for our web and email hosting services.

All of the new servers will be running Microsoft Windows Server 2008, taking full advantage of Network Load Balancing features to offer high performance, stability and redundancy.

The servers themselves will be part of an Intel MFSYS25 Modular Server, offering even more redundancy and scaleability. Each server has multiple processors, and plenty of memory to keep up with the demand of modern web sites.

25th April 2008 - Hotmail support for Outlook Express coming to an end

As of June 30th 2008 Hotmail will no longer be compatible with Outlook Express. Microsoft has announced that on this date it's Hotmail service will no longer support the DAV protocol required for Hotmail to integrate with Outlook Express, which is now outdated. As an alternative to Outlook Express they have released a new version of Windows Live Mail, which is free to download and use.

25th April 2008 - Hotmail support for Outlook Express coming to an end

 

21st April 2008 - Microsoft to release Windows XP Service Pack 3

Microsoft has announced today that Service Pack 3 for Windows XP will be available to download from the Windows Update site on April 29th. The third service pack includes all previous updates and fixes as well as updates to the Management Console, Windows Installer and more.

1st April 2008 - New A2Z Computing support suite goes live

Today saw the launch of our new online support suite. It has been designed to improve our old ticketing system and include a new knowledge base and download centre.

The ticketing system allows us to add, manage and update the jobs that we do. Clients can also interact by updating tickets and monitoring progress.

The knowledge base is intended to reduce the amount of support queries directed to our support staff by offering solutions to common problems.

The download centre will allow customers to download drivers, manuals and software for their servers, workstations or notebooks.

The suite is accessible via our Support section or this url - http://support.a2z-computing.com - if you had a user account on our old JobLog system then you will be able to log in to the new support suite using the same username and password.

6th March 2008 - David Webb elected as chairman of Action Business Club in Newport

David Webb, one of A2Z Computing's senior support staff, has been chosen for chairman of a popular networking group in Newport.

The role at Action Business Club, the breakfast networking group that holds weekly events in Newport and Swansea, was handed over from Dave Brassey of Underwood Insurance having served a full year as chairman.

Having been a member of ABC since it's conception David will now chair meetings and be an active part of the steering group.

The group has also launched it's new web site this month at http://www.actionbusinessclub.co.uk

5th February 2008 - A2Z Computing supplies first suite of ICT desks

A2Z Computing has supplied and installed 18 new IT-integrated desks in Monmouth Comprehensive School.

The desks are Verso Tower 880 dual-purpose ICT desks fully integrated with AG Neovo hard glass TFT monitors, A2Z Computing min-tower workstations and a Microsoft keyboard and mouse.
