In partnership with Monmouthshire LEA A2Z Computing was host to an event designed for primary school headteachers and ICT co-ordinators to meet suppliers of ICT equipment and software.
Schools that attended were shown presentations and demonstrations by each of the suppliers. Attendees were given the opportunity to talk to the suppliers on their stands to ask questions and have a closer look at the products.
The demonstration took place on the morning of the 14th May 2009, some six suppliers attended with their respective hardware and software. Each gave an excellent presentation and demonstration.
The conference began with an introduction from Mark Davies, ICT co-ordinator for Monmouthshire County Council, explaining to the audience that the products on demonstration would benefit each and every school represented by the heads in attendance.
The first supplier to give their presentation was Intel and CMS, a fascinating insight on the new products Fizzbook Spin and Fizzbook Bang, a very robust little laptop for primary children to take home as well as use in school. The following presentation was performed by SmartTech, demonstrating various ways of getting the best and most informative use out of the smartboards and software. After their 20 minute talk we were then given a presentation by Rebecca from nComputing, who gave us a fabulous insight into their money and energy saving device which showed us how to share a single desktop computer with up to 30 users. Next we enjoyed an informative presentation from Adam who was representating Lumens on their visualisers. Andy from 2Simple followed with his demonstration of the software suite from 2Simple. Finally Schools Online showed the benefits of their school website building packages.
After the suppliers gave their presentations the head teachers enjoyed an hour or so discussing with the suppliers their products, along with A2Zs own support engineers giving information on installation and following support on these products.
There were 40 headteachers and ICT co-ordinators in attendance, all in awe of the various products and services on offer and all received a complimentary gift of a Lumens visualiser to take back to their schools. |
